History
1. HISTORY
1.1. Sino-Soviet Conflicts
- In the late 1960s, tensions were coming to a head between Mao's People's Liberation Army and the USSR over disputed northern territory along the Ussuri River.
- After blood was drawn, Moscow fired nuclear weapons at Beijing, killing many of the high ranking members of the CCP, but notably sparing Mao, who was in Wuhan at the time.
- The launching of a nuclear warhead was followed by sightings of dozens of strange lights in the night sky, only faintly visible through the nuclear winter that was forming.
- These would become hundreds, then thousands of lights, as the humanity had broken the contract they'd never signed and at last others could intervene.
1.2. Visitation
- The "Visitors" as they would come to be called were not often seen. Those that kept their company rarely would say anything of them, dismissing inquiry outright.
- The Visitors would land ships all over the globe, with letters arriving to all of the world's best minds beckoning them to join.
1.3. The Unification of the People's Party
- Upon returning, the minds of the world were in agreement of communism's necessary role in the advancement of the human species towards the stars.
- Communism was believed to be the only fiscal and political system capable of meeting the needs of a space faring race
- To this end, the parties of the communist countries of the world were unified, and all 100,000 minds taken in the seclusion were founding members of the People's Party
- Many nations would launch wars to combat the party's spread, but the newfound knowledge of the secluded and the might of the party would crush these revolts and align the people of the world with their mission.
1.4. The liberation of other worlds
1.4.1. The Moon
- Liberated in 1970, communism took quick hold of the moon and it was rapidly prepared for permanent settlement and terraforming as well as transformed into an intermediate launching ground for new spacefaring vessels.
1.4.2. Mars
- The Red Planet, it was seen as a crown jewel of humanity's early expansion.
- Time was taken to prepare Earth for large scale population migrations to the new world, delaying the mission for liberation until 1984.
- The choice was made to leave the planet red as a reminder of the scarlet tone that defined Marxism's future
1.4.3. Titan
- Titan was liberated by an all Martian and Lunar crew in 2005 using only materials sourced from and ships/equipment manufactured on Mars to demonstrate humanity's apparent mastery over the act of planetary colonization.
1.4.4. Io & Europa
- The moons of Jupiter were liberated under the flag of humanity by twin missions that touched down on the very same day in 2024.
- The peoples of Io and Europa would quickly cloister themselves due to their planets' conditions and develop deep political resentment for the People's Party as a result.
1.4.5. Pluto
- The last gem of the solar system, it was chosen over Ganymede to prepare humanity for the launch of generation ships now (2311) under construction and set to launch within the next few years.
1.5. Despicable acts
- Official party doctrine has always held to the might of the human race and it ability to overcome.
- This has left many in disagreement over the role of genetic modification within the party.
- The cloistered center of the People's Party on Earth believe it an atrocity, while others maintain it as humanity's greatest triumph over themselves.
- Each planet has, at present, instituted controls over which species of humans can be born on them. Many require adaptations only attainable in other species to survive long term on their planets
- Io & Europa (in rebellion) do not enforce their controls
- Homo Brevis :: A short race native to Io's underground world (Dwarves)
- Homo Praesagus :: A psychic race native Europa's underwater worlds (Githerazi)
- Homo Altus :: A tall race native to the Scarlet Planet (Elves)
- Homo ?? :: Titan (Open for player choice)
- Homo ?? :: Pluto (Open for player choice)
